Peter Paul Akanko is the CEO of Kente Master. He graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2014 with a degree in Biological Sciences. Peter started his business, Kente Master at a time when he was doing his national service at the Kumasi business Incubator (KBI). Peter was among the first cohort of entrepreneurs to go through the KBI which started in 2014. Through the incubator program, he had access to a laptop, free office and training. However running his business was challenging for him financially but his determination kept him going.
Peter developed love for Kente products when he participated in an International Development Summer Institute program in 2012. While on this program, he had the opportunity to visit the Kente Villages and to see the beautiful handcrafts that were made. After this project, he followed up to meet with the head of the visitors centre in Adawomase and expressed his interest in selling some of the Kente Products. He began to sell some products such as neckties, bowties and sandals among others to students on campus but on a low scale. He also used this opportunity to build good relationships with weavers until he had the opportunity to formally start his business.
Originally from Wiaga in the upper east region, Peter now lives in Kumasi to manage his business and pays visits occasionally to his family in Tamale.
Peter believes in entrepreneurship and the youth of Ghana.
