DeLiman Ruka Yaro is a mother of two children and the CEO of Jamilullah Farm.
She completed the University of Development Studies, UDS – Tamale in 2009 and later became a Teacher with Ghana Education Service teaching at Chereponi DA primary School in the Northern Ghana.
While still a teacher, she started her poultry farm in 2012. When it became difficult to manage her two jobs and her family, she quit teaching to concentrate on her farm.
Her encounter with young people at CAMFED, where she trained others in financial literacy and entrepreneurship inspired the setting up of her farm- with the objective of employing those who couldn’t continue their education due to financial constraints.
Ruka loves spending time with kids, volunteering and learning new things. She belongs to one of the vibrant volunteering groups in the north, Swag Volunteers: a volunteering group formed by individuals involved in community development activities and passionate about social change. Every year, SWAG volunteers try to mentor about 500 people. She also volunteers with Northern Girls Initiative, a Non-profit Organization that creates opportunities and provide support services to young girls and women from the Northern region of Ghana.
Ruka is inspired by her ability to make others smile through her efforts. She believes in working for and being the change she wants to see around.
